Saudi Cabinet approves joining agreement on privileges and immunities of IAEA

RIYADH: ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Kingdom joining the agreement on the privileges and immunities of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the Saudi Press Agency reported. 

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan was advised to complete the necessary legal procedures to join the agreement.

The Cabinet also approved a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkiye on mining cooperation.

Another MoU between the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance and the Islamic Sheikhdom in Montenegro was approved in the field of Islamic affairs.

The Cabinet was also briefed on the outcomes of discussions between Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah during the leader’s visit to the Kingdom last week. 

The Cabinet considered the Kingdom’s hosting of the sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in December as an important step in strengthening cooperation in order to find effective solutions to reduce land degradation and the effects of drought.

It also praised the outcomes of an Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition defense ministers meeting held in Riyadh on Saturday.

The Cabinet said the Kingdom’s support for the coalition’s fund for financing initiatives in the form of SR 100 million ($26.7 million) confirms its commitment to spreading the values of moderation and rejecting violence and extremism.
